Pool Room Makeover
pool room makeover
As summer rolled around, I decided it was time to decorate the pool room. As an indoor pool room goes, it was nice and functional for swimming. But I wanted a place to retreat even if we weren't swimming. I wanted something bright and with a more modern feel.
This is what the pool room looked like when we moved in. The wicker furniture needed to have the cushions replaced. They were sun rotted and had some mildew on them. Other than that, the wicker was perfect for the look I was going for. I wanted to keep the colors light, summery and complement the pool and the greenery outside the sun room windows.
I went to Lowe's and they had exactly the cushions I was looking for - the right size and style. What they didn't have was a cushion for the ottoman and pillows to match. That's okay, that's what Pintrest is for! Ladies, if you are looking to make easy pillow covers in just 10 minutes head over to www.raegunramblings.com. Marissa has a great tutorial. And the best part about these envelope pillow covers is that you change them at a whim.
For the ottoman cushion cover, I used the easy to follow tutorial that Christy blogged at www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com. The results were so professional! And the chartreuse green fabric? It was a steal with my Joanne's coupon.
A finishing touch...
There is window at the side of the pool that was just screaming for me to make a piece of faux stained glass. What could be better than a beautiful mermaid? I wanted to tie in the colors to the cushions and the pool. I love looking at her when floating in the pool!
Sigh! Don't we all wish we could be mermaids?
Thanks for looking!
All my best,
